CST Club Championships

June 21st 2009 marked the last home meet of the Season.  It was our annual Club Championships; where the team comes together and races a little while celebrating the season and saying goodbye to the Athletes leaving.  The meet was a lot of fun for everyone involved.  We also sadly said farewell to Mi Jo Mucklow, Alyssa Van den Bosch, and Devin Helligar.  They are all leaving us this year.  Devin is moving to Connecticut, Mi Jo is moving to Wisconsin, and Alyssa is headed to Holland for College.  They will all be missed and we hope they will come back and visit.

The meet itself was a lot of fun.  The athletes had a good time racing each other.  It was so much fun we were able to entice Mercedes Antrobus into swimming a few races.

The end of the Season awards were handed out at the meet as well.  Choosing these was difficult as expected.  So many swimmers have worked so hard this season making huge improvements through the season.

Swimmers in bold swam personal bests in all of their events!!!

These swimmers combined for 142 swims of which 120 where personal bests.  This means 85% of the time these swimmers where swimming that event the fastest they ever had.  It was awesome!  All but one swimmer swam at least one personal best and the swimmer who did not swim a personal best is returning from an injury.  6 team records were set at the meet: Gregory Capraja set records in the 15 year old 200IM and 200 Breast, Morghane Mazurier set team records in the 11 year old 100 Fly, 100 Back, and 100 Free, and Kelia Serramoglia lowered the team record in the 13 year old 200 Breast.  Awesome job you three!!!  25 of the swimmers went personal bests in every event they swam.  This is an awesome achievement by them.  The swimmers clearly showcased their hard work and sacrifices over the course of this season.  I am sure that there are many exciting things to come as they continue to work towards their goals.

GREAT JOB CST!!!!!!!!

St. Barths Copie de Triathlon 2009

Coach Ian’s report;-

I hope everyone who went to the meet enjoyed it.  There were certainly a lot of good swims at the meet.  There was also a lot of cheering for each other, with everyone trying to help their teammates succeed.  The work all the athletes have put in and the support they gave each other really showed up at the meet.

The athletes swam 92 times and went personal bests on 82 of them.  This means that over 89% of the time, when an athlete dove into the water, they touched the wall the fastest they ever had.  It is great to see their hard work paying off!  There were a lot of stand out swims but several swimmers had amazing improvements of close to a minute or greater in one event; Delphine Galloway improved 59.54 seconds in the 200 Free, Loane Serramoglia 81.93 seconds in the 100 IM, and Nadika Matthew improved 92.35 seconds in the 400 free.  Every swimmer on the team had at least 1 personal best time with 22 of the athletes swimming personal bests in every event; Jolyon Ferron, Delphine Galloway, PJ Jennen, Johanna Looser, Tess Martina, Nadika Matthew, Tasha Matthew, Morghane Mazurier, Naomi Mensana, Tom Moriseau, Ugo Moriseau, Loane Serramoglia, Alix Violet, Valentin Walter, Agis Carty, Cement Cassao, Lucas & Orane Charbonnet-Fohanno, Remi Conte, Aba Coombs, Abiola Dessout, and Renee Drost.  Nine of the swimmers improved over 20 seconds on a swim and another 18 swimmers improving more than 10 seconds on an event.

We should also note that once again a team record has fallen; Kelia Serramoglia has broken the team record for 14 year old girls in the 200IM with a time of 2:41.64.

Congratulations to everyone who participated, it was a very successful meet and we are all looking forward to when they will get a chance to show off in the future.

The final results on of the meet will be posted on the bulletin board for you to look over today.  We also want to THANK the Voyager for the smooth trip to and from the meet.  They were GREAT!
