Morghane Mazurier spent this weekend, 5 - 6 June, 2010, representing Carib Swim Team and SXM, in Dijon, France competing in the Sixth Trophy Lucien-Zins of 12- 13 yr old This swim meet includes the fastest 160 swimmers born in 1997 & 1998 throughout all of in France and DOM / TOM (which means France and Guadeloupe, Martinique, Reunion, Tahiti, New Caledonia.). Morghane, representing the Carib Swim team, joined the Guadeloupe "delegation" of 2 more young swimmers and one coach, to go to Dijon, France.
Morghane was very impressed by the facilities, 50m new indoor pool , with a 25m warm up pool and a high dive pool, set in the country side, with other sports facilites around, although was a little taken by the temperature of the water...but adjusted well.
She swam 6 events in 4 separate sessions spread out over 2 days this weekend: 50 Back, 50 fly, 50 Br, 100 Fr, 400 Fr, 200 Individual Medley (IM). She finished in the top 100 best swimmers in France in 5 events, of which 3 of those she finished in the top 50 and in two of her swims she finished in the top 8 fastest swimmers in her age group in all of France - with a 7th place finish in the 50 fly and 8th place finish in the 50 back. She gave an outstanding performance in the 50m backstroke, with an excellent take off and a strong finish. Originally placed at 37th with a time of 34:70, she gained 7th position with a time of 33:42. Challenge des Iles du Nord Swim Meet in St Barths Sunday 23rd May, 2010
Carib Swim Team went to St. Barths this weekend to a Swim Competition. The team sent 26 swimmers to compete at St. Barths. They swam very well with every swimmer having at least one personal best time and many swimmers achieving best times in every event. These swimmers swam 70 personal best times out of 78 events swam. This means almost 90% of all swims were personal bests which lead to 50 top 3 swimmers. 23 of those 50 top 3 finishes were 1st place finishes. The team swam great and competed very hard. Awesome job Carib Swim Team! ………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..

CST Invitational Meet Sunday 31st January 2010 Well done CST!!!! The whole team had a GREAT meet this weekend! Everyone should be proud of their efforts! There were exciting races men’s 100 breast, 100 free, and 100 fly certainly stand out. We had finishes coming down to 10ths of a second between swimmers There were Personal bests galore in spite of this being a midseason meet with so many swimmers tired and sore from their hard work: - 86 of 106 swims were personal bests which is 81% of swims - Improvement of over 50 seconds in the 800 free by 3 swimmers - Improvement of over 10 seconds in 5 events including twice in 50s by Hensley Hubert and by over 70 seconds in 200 fly by Stephen Looser on his way to the team record. - Every single swimmer swam at least one personal best! - With 17 swimmers achieving personal bests in every event! Several swims were qualifying cuts for upcoming meets with their new personal best times. It will be exciting to see what they learn and how they perform in the new environment they have qualified to participate in. I am sure through their continued efforts they will have many exciting swims, personal bests, and fabulous learning experiences! New team records were also achieved at this meet. This was the first meet everyone swam in their new age category and it gave many swimmers an opportunity to break records! We had 12 team records set by 7 different swimmers! Fabulous job everyone! This means over 10% of all swims lead to new team records! Clearly all that effort is paying off! We also wish to thank visiting teams from Antigua, Statia, St Baths, & St Maarten, and all our many Volunteers & Helpers, for their work before & during the meet, and to the many cooks for the delicious salads, desserts, sandwiches & snacks prepared & donated. Thank you. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Netherlands Antilles National Championships Curacao 11,12,13th December 2009
Again Sint Maarten/ Saint Martin showed off it prowess in the pool by having fantastic, even dominating performances. They destroyed personal bests often on the way to crushing team records. Again this year the rules were changed, leading once again to only Dutch passport holders being allowed to medal in this meet. This did nothing to deter the swimmers from SXM. They simply refused to allow this to keep them from showcasing their work; every swimmer had a top 5 finish with 11 of the 13 swimmers having a top 3 finish. We had 4 swimmers who held Dutch Passports compete in the meet. We had a second year swimmer Bor Schalten, less than 18 months, competing in his second meet ever and 1st in a 50 meter pool. Along with personal bests in all 6 of his individual events, he put on an amazing performance in the 50 Breast receiving the silver medal for 11-14 year old swimmers. Steven Cloose swam personal bests in 4 of 6 of his individual events, highlighted with a 28.74 second improvement and a team record in his 400 Free on his way to out touching another swimmer by .02 seconds to win the bronze. Jolyon Ferron swam personal bests in 6 of 8 events. These were highlighted by a 38.64 second improvement in the 200IM to finish 4th in the 11-14 category, and a personal best by over a second in the 50 Free, which he swam Fly. Aba Coombs had a terrific meet! He swam personal bests in 7 of 7 events finishing with four bronze medals and a silver medal in the 100 Breast! He dropped 12 or more seconds in both the 100 Breast and the 100 Free. He also went under the previous athletes’ team record in both the 50 and 100 back. The rest of our swimmers had various international passports residing on both sides of the Island. They continued the great swims. Delphine Galloway and Loreen Allanic finished perfect going personal bests in every event they swam. This was highlighted with their helping win both the 4 X 100 Medley and 4 X 100 Free 11-14 Relays! Benjamin Justine was also perfect going 6 for 6 on personal bests, highlighted with a top 5 time in the 15 and older 50 Breast. Harry Antrobus was another perfect swimmer going personal bests in all 8 events he swam. He highlighted his swims with 2nd place finishes in 15 and older 200 IM and 11 & older 200 Back. He also achieved 1st place finishes in the 400IM and the 15 and older 100 back. Che Sheldon Charlemagne, who also started competitive swimming just over a year ago, was perfect in his swims by going personal bests in all of them. He highlighted his weekend with a great 50 breast and 50 back setting a new team records in both events, and going less than a second away from others. Morghane Mazurier was brilliant this weekend swimming personal bests in all seven of her events. She finished in the top 3 in 5 of seven events including 2 first places the 200IM and 50 Fly. She set new team records in 4 events, 50 back, 100 fly, 50 fly, and 200 IM. Matthias Reltien showed his skills throughout the meet swimming personal bests in nearly every event and finishing in the top 3 of every event he swam. He also went under the team record in 5 events; 100 Back, 100 Fly, 50 Fly, 200 IM, and 100 Free. Stephen Looser was another swimmer who decided to show off his work over the last year. He went 8 for 8 on personal bests in spite of swimming 8 events and 3 relays. He finished in the top 5 in every event including a 1st place finish, winning by 8 seconds in the 400 Free. Kelia Serramoglia swam a large program as well swimming 8 events and 2 relays. She swam personal best in 3 of her 8 events, but dominated her competition. She swam to 1st place finishes in 6 of 8 individual events and both relays. She finished 2nd in her other 2 events both by less than a quarter of a second. She showcased her ability by winning events like the 100 Breast by a dominating 4+ seconds. She also swam under the previous swimmers records in the 100 fly and 50 free. To wrap it all up, it certainly was a meet to be proud of with every swimmer having a top 5 finish and with 11 of the 13 swimmers having a top 3 finish. This was achieved by the swimmers doing personal best times in 90% of all swims and 16 swims being under previous team record times. One swimmer often would swim a great time and that would push the swimmer in the next heat or event to rise up and swim faster. Everyone was cheering for each other in hopes of helping encourage each other to strive for their best! Fantastic everyone!!!! Go Carib Swim Team !!!
