The Carib Swim Team was founded in 1993, to promote competitive swimming on St Maarten.

Originally the team consisted of about 10 members who trained at several hotels on the island, such as Port de Plaisance and Pelican Resort.

After hurricane Luis in 1995, when most hotels were closed, the team trained in the sea at first, and later partially at the Raoul Illidge pool and partially in the sea at Le Galion.

This continued until in September 2000 when the new Carib Swim Team pool in Cole Bay was completed, thanks to the continuous 5 year long efforts of members and board, and the support of several businesses on the island.

The Team now has 80+ members, - children from both Dutch side and French side of the island. From 6 years olds, up to 18 year olds, the swimmers are divided into training groups, training from 2 sessions per week, increasing to 6 + times a week for the Gold & Senior groups.

Carib Swim Team is now a highly successful competitive swim team, competing in local inter-island Meets as well as Caribbean and national meets in Curacao, Aruba, Barbados, St. Lucia, Santo Domingo, Martinique etc.
and has produced several National Champion swimmers.

Hello everyone my name is Ian Lee. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to all of you. 

I have been Coaching or Teaching swimming for over 15 years.  This includes coaching at a variety of levels; Age group (12 & under), Senior (13-18), College and Masters (19 & up).  I have also worked with Tri-athletes and Special Populations, such as Special Olympics.  I have worked with athletes of a variety of skill levels from the most developmental learn to swim to Professional and Olympic trail qualified athletes.  I have a degree in Exercise and Sport Science and I am a NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach.

I am very excited about the prospects the Carib Swim Team and its athletes have to offer.  I am confident the next few years are going to be great, as we continue to build upon the effort, work and accomplishments of the athletes, their families, and the coaches. 

  I love the sport of swimming and what it has to offer to its participants.  I believe that communication between Coaches, Athletes, and Families is an integral part of being successful in swimming and all facets of life.  So if you have any questions, thoughts, or just want to introduce yourself please feel free to contact me anytime.   I have included all of my contact information and I look forward to getting to know all of you.
